THE IMPACT OF DISCIPLINARY PROCEDURES ON THE JOB PERFORMANCE OF CIVIL SERVANTS IN BAMENDA
Abstract
This study investigates the impact of disciplinary procedures on the job performance of civil servants in Bamenda, Cameroon. The civil service plays a crucial role in implementing government policies and delivering essential services. However, issues such as indiscipline, corruption, and lack of professionalism undermine its effectiveness.
This research identifies the approved statutory disciplinary procedures and examines their implementation, highlighting challenges such as biased judgments and inadequate training of personnel. A significant concern is the poor investigation of disciplinary cases, which often results in unfair treatment and reduced employee morale.
The study aims to evaluate how these factors contribute to low job performance among civil servants. Through a mixed-methods approach, data will be collected from various stakeholders to provide a comprehensive understanding of the disciplinary processes in the civil service.
The findings are expected to inform recommendations for improving disciplinary measures and enhancing job performance. Given the critical role of the civil service in national development, this research is timely and significant for policymakers, civil servants, and scholars interested in public administration. The study underscores the necessity for transparent, consistent, and fair disciplinary practices to foster a more efficient and accountable civil service in Cameroon.
