INVENTORY MANAGEMENT PRACTICES ON PERFORMANCE OF HOTELS IN FAKO DIVISION
Abstract
Inventory management practices are key activities which every business must attempt to carry out with care as this affect the business daily operation and its efficiency. This study is out to investigate the effect of inventory management practices on the performance of Hotels in the Fako Division of Cameroon.
The study employed a descriptive research design and used structured questionnaire as its main data collection instrument. A purposive sampling technique was used to sample 60 respondents from 30 classified Hotels within Fako. Data was analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics where a Pearson correlation and multiple regression analysis were used with the help of the Statistical Package for Social Sciences version 25.
The results showed that Economic Order Quantity and Always Better Control analysis both share a strong relationship with the performance of hotels in Fako and that the two variables pose significant effect measured at 5% level of significant on return on investment of hotels in Fako.
However, the results proved that Just in Time inventory management does not share any significant relationship with the performance of hotels nor pose any significant effect thereon. The study did not observe any significant relationship nor effect between age of the hotel and performance.
The study concluded that inventory management pose positive effect on the performance of hotels in Fako and recommends all hotels and businesses to adopt appropriate inventory management practices in order to benefit from return on investment.
