Abstract

The research delves into the intricate realm of corporate civil liability, focusing primarily on the accountability of transport companies, particularly in the context of road transport entities within Cameroon’s legal framework. It navigates through the evolution of transportation laws, emphasizing the regulatory landscape that governs the operations and liabilities of these companies. Through a historical lens, it examines the transition from fault-based liability systems to negligence principles in the realm of road traffic accidents, shedding light on the legal intricacies that shape liability determinations.

The Ministry of Transport’s pivotal role in overseeing transport regulations and safety standards is underscored, highlighting its mandate in ensuring compliance and enforcement within the industry. The study underscores the significant role of transport companies in facilitating both domestic travel and international trade, accentuating the multifaceted liabilities they face, ranging from torts to property damages.

By scrutinizing the liabilities arising from personal injuries and property losses, the research aims to unravel the complexities of compensatory schemes and legal obligations that bind transport companies in Cameroon.

Furthermore, it illuminates the critical role of insurance laws in mitigating liabilities and safeguarding the interests of stakeholders involved in road transport activities.
