THE EFFECTS OF QUALITY CONTROL METHODS ON EMPLOYEE PERFORMANCE IN FOOD INDUSTRY IN CAMEROON
Abstract
This project titled ‘the effects of quality control methods on employee performance in the food industry is to examine how the various quality control methods implemented in the food industry affect the performance of employees.
This study is descriptive in nature and the main objective of this study is to examine the effects of quality control methods on the performance of employees in the food industry mainly in the South West and Littoral regions of Cameroon, the specific objectives of this study were; To determine the Quality Control Methods predominantly used by the food industry in the Littoral and South West Region of Cameroon, to examine how the Quality Control Methods affect Performance of employees and to assess some of the coping strategies used by the food industry to improve employee performance in the Littoral and South West Region.
This project was based on three theories which include the theory of Quality Control by Deming; Crosby’s zero defects theory by Philip Crosby and the Theory of the Lean Six Sigma. The study was carried out in the Littoral and SW region of Cameroon project citing mostly bakeries. A random sampling technique was used to administer the 150 respondents through questionnaires.
A regression analysis was used to carry out the data. Results from the findings concluded that the performance of employees is greatly influenced by the quality control methods implemented in the food industry. Coping strategies were also deduced to enforce effective implementation of quality control methods so as to better improve employee performance.
The study recommends that food industries in the SW and Littoral regions increase and improve the quality control methods, implement coping strategies and ensure that these quality control methods are continuously improved or updated to fit the ever-changing business world.
Training another vital ingredient in impacting performance of employees should be designed according to the vision of the company and to suit the needs of the employees which greatly leads to increased employee performance.
