KNOWLEDGE, ATTITUDE, AND AWARENESS OF YOUTHS TOWARD TECHNICAL AND VOCATIONAL EDUCATION IN CAMEROON
Abstract
The study aims to investigate adolescent knowledge, attitudes, and awareness via skill acquisition in order to assist local-global societies. To answer the study questions and achieve the research objectives, a purposeful random sampling survey was employed, as well as primary and secondary sources. The data was collected through observation and guided close ended questionnaires.
This thesis discovered that a lack of proper knowledge, attitudes, and awareness of technical and vocational education is to blame for the following social anomalies and challenges: a high rate of unemployment (3.40%), a high crime rate (69.13%) percent, teenage pregnancy (12/14%), the emergence of slums (38%), and a high rate of drug abuse (21%).
The results concluded that technical and vocational education can transform society. The thesis suggests, among others, that additional model technical and vocational schools should be established in Buea. Some strategies were highlighted for positive change in society.
