THE CONCEPTION AND DESIGN OF MULTI-PURPOSE MULTTI-STOREY RESIDENTIAL BUILDING (G+15); IN LIMBE
Abstract
According to the Cameroon tribute, there’s an ongoing construction of the Limbe deep seaport. The 400 billion will start from Isonge and extend to Ngeme. This will make Limbe one of the busiest towns in Cameroon there by increasing the population in Limbe and the gross domestic product of the country as a whole.
The seaport project in Limbe will create about 2000 jobs both permanent and temporal in the city. Since our world is becoming so expensive and the common man is gradually being exempted from having a taste of good life such as good lodging in hotel, going for a swim, taking a flight, and being in fancy places.
The design of the project (multi-purpose multi-storey residential building, G+15) with a helicopter landing at the roof top is to create a small community of all classes of people to hence bridge the gap between the wealthy and the peasant man who also wants to live well.
Furthermore, this project also aims at; providing security in which the top roof of the building will be able to carry a landing of a helicopter for very important guest, serve as an accommodation for many tourists hence increasing the GDP of the country, conceive and design a multi-storey residential building with specific requirements, come up with durable and an affordable structure, and finally to provide a structure that will increase the aesthetic characteristics of the environment.
More so, this project contains some shear walls, bunker, pharmacy, super market, restaurant, offices, apartments, hotels suits and rooms, staircases, elevators and the roof top is designed to have a helicopter landing for very important guest and a swimming pool in the city of Limbe. The first four floors have a surface area of 1550m2 and from the fourth floor to the fifteenth floor have a surface area of 1034m2 with a swimming pool and a helicopter landing.
Proper selection of the building site was done through geotechnical and visibility studies. The analysis and design of a multi-story building is based on increasing the seismic capacity through proper configuration of the structure by using software programs such as Robot Structural as well as proper designing and ductile detailing of structural elements.
