AN INTERNSHIP CARRIED OUT AT REGIONAL DELEGATION OF PUBLIC HEALTH BAMENDA
SUMMARY
An internship is any carefully monitored work or service experience in which a student has intentional learning goals and reflects actively on what he or she is learning throughout the experience.
We completed our internship at the regional delegation of Public health within 6 weeks, from 17th March to 24th April 2015. The objective of the internship was to enable public health students acquire practical experience in the execution and management of public health activities.
The activities we carried out in the delegation include: Active disease surveillance, data entering, participated in weekly and evaluations meetings, visiting the various units and programs, participate in yellow fever and deworming campaigns.
In all, the internship was an exciting and enriching experience as the staff collaborated with the interns. As such we were able to achieve our objectives. We recommend that the duration of internship be increased to three months so that interns can have an opportunity to participate actively in all activities of the delegation.
