Executive Summary

This work was carried out at JEMA INT’L Travel and Service half-mile LIMBE. It is a company which deals with air travel service. The chapter of this work introduces what an internship is all about, chapter two talks about the historical background of the company and how it originated.

Chapter three explains the activities carried out by the interns, focus area and as well comparisons between theory and practical.

Chapter four concentrates on the evolution of the internships that is the strength, weaknesses, positive and as a well negative experience.

And the last chapter explains the recommendations given by the interns and the conclusion.

CHAPTER ONE

INTRODUCTION

1.1 Background Of The Internship

An internship is viewed as the blending of theory and practical together done by students of second and third year with the aim to improve on the intern’s career. The reasons for the internships is to compare those things studied in school (theory) and the ones studied at the field (practical).

This internship was to observe, understand, and note the role of air travel agencies in the enhancement of air transport. As a student offering transport and logistics management at higher institute of professional’s study

(HIPS)BUEA, Internship was carried out at JEMA INT’L Travel and Service which started from the 16 of July 2019 to 16 September 2019 and lasted for a period of two months.

The company is situated at half mile LIMBE opposite FAKO bakery beside TOTAL filling station. Internship enables the student to the field so as to expose them develop problems solving skills which would not have been acquired during oral classroom   teachings. Internship also makes the intern to get confidence in professional environments to improve and also gain valuable industry knowledge

4. To provide the opportunity to develop altitude conductive to effective inter personal relationship

1.3 Operational Definition Of Terms

Travel Agency:

It is a private retailer or public service that provides travel and tourism-related services to the general public on behalf of suppliers.

Travel Agent:

It is also known as a travel advisor someone, who sells or arranges trips or hours for customers’ demand.

Air Ticket:

An air ticket is a document or electronic record issued by an airline or travel agency, that confirms that an individual is entitle to seat on a flight on air craft.

Passport:

It is a travel document usually issued by a country government that certifies that identity and nationality of its holder primarily for the purpose of international travel.

Airline:

It is a company that provides air transport service for traveling passengers and freight. Airlines utilize aircraft to supply these services.

VISA:

A visa is a document put in your passport giving you the authority to travel to a particular country. There however exist four types of visas namely;

• Students Visa
• Study Visa
• Tourists Visa
• Short stay or Business and Work Visa

Study or Student Visa:

It is a special endorsement that is added to a passport that governments issue student who are    enrolled at qualified educational institutions.

Tourists Visa:

It is a visa that allows you to visit a country for a short time or holiday.

Short stay Visa:

A short stay visa entitles the holder to visit Schengen countries for tourism, visiting friends, family, business etc. For up to 90 days within a 180 day period from of first entry.

Work Visa:

It is a visa given one the ability to take a job in a country other than the one in which one is a citizen.

Historical Background Of The Organizations

JEMA is a travel agency which deals with air transport. It was created in 2015 and started on the 1 of December 2015.

This organization had two workers for started founded by NGUEYOU JEAN PIERCE, the organization at first was known as PACIFIC PROMO VOYAGE and was in partnership with friends. Now the organization is known as JEMA INT’L Travel and Service.

The name JEMA is a joined name between the owner and his wife, that is JE which stands JEAN PIERE and MA which stands for MARIE.

This organization started with a capital of 20millions and two workers but today, the organization has had four workers since 2015. The organization has been working well but due to the crisis of 2017, it has been surviving. This organization has a branch in Kumba but it has been closed down as a result of the socio-political crisis in that area.
