Executive Summary

My objectives for going on this internship were to be able to apply classroom knowledge in the field and to gain better employee-valued skills. I chose this company because they provide IT training to their customers in almost all domains of IT and they are out to impact their trainees with not only knowledge and employee-valued skills, but with entrepreneurial skills.

During the course of this internship, I was introduced to version control, system analysis, and web design which I used to design a template for a Beauty Salon.

While in this organization, I noticed their strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats on which they can improve to get to more customers. With these in mind, I made some recommendations to help them improve their services and gain more customers.

CHAPTER ONE

GENERAL INTRODUCTION

1.1. Introduction

The internship from the 6th of July to the 6th of September 2022 at landmark Technologies Buea was aimed at blending theory with practice. It was realized that the importance of this exercise was actually to get acquainted with a work-based setting and also how to interact with co-workers and make certain work-risk decisions

1.2.Background Information of Internship

An internship is a professional learning experience that offers meaningful and practical work. Related to a student’s field of study or career interest. This allows the intern to experience what the real-world working environment in a particular field feels like while allowing the employer to find new employees who will add value to their existing cores without much stress. This helps the intern to gain and enhance professional skills among others like communication skills, creative problem-solving skills, and many others.

These skills differentiate the intern from their peers and give them an upper hand in the job market, as employers only sought capable candidates. It also gives room for growth and learning while getting inspiration from experienced professionals in the field

1.3.General Objectives of the Internship

• To gain professional experience by learning how the employer and employee approach problems in addition to Graphic and web design concepts, designs, and analysis. To develop and enhance skills and gain assistance in enhancing employer-valued skills Such as communication, attention to detail, dedication, and team work.
• To be able to integrate theory and practical training by applying theories in practical areas in contribution to the betterment of the organization where the internship is served. To develop work habits and attitudes necessary for job success by following the rules and regulations
• of the organization which is out of academic scope, and gain familiarity in teamwork, work environment and giving valuable contributions for the growth of the organization

Demonstrate understanding and use technical technology by putting into practice the technicalities learned in school and proving understanding by using and working with

1.4.Specific objectives of the internship:

• To learn coding languages such as JS, SQL, and Python.
• Basic requirement for a graphic designer in a company
• To learn how to analyse a system as an engineer.
• To implement computer graphics design
• To know how an organization function
• To know how to scope in a company and how to stay in a working environment

1.5.Importance of Internship

• The internship is important in the following ways to the student, both academically and professionally:
• It helps in testing out practical aspects of what is known and focuses on how a particular job is done. This helps to integrate classroom knowledge and skills with actual work experience.
• It helps to enhance employability, doing an internship helps to showcase knowledge
• It helps to expand the work network. Doing an internship gives opportunities to meet with different people with different levels of work experience and different skills, this helps you create contacts and expand the network, while benefiting and improving on your skills.
• Refining skills. Doing an internship allows you to continue developing and enhancing your skills and knowledge away from the classroom. It also allows you to try new skills, and receive feedback from experienced professionals.
• Developing professionalism: an internship is a way of personalized learning, and it makes you deal with people professionally and learn the ways of professional work settings which is different from dealing with people in a classroom.
• Nurturing confidence: implementing knowledge in a real-life situation helps you test your skills in a learning environment that is not as stressful and pressuring as classroom learning or a permanent job. This relieves stress and builds confidence in your abilities

1.6. Definition of terms

• Database management system (DBMS) is simply a computerized data-keeping system. Users of the system are given facilities to perform several kinds of operations
• E-R diagram: Describe the structure of a database with the help of a diagram.
• Foreign key: This is a set of attributes in a table that refers to a primary key of another table.
• Primary key: This is a column that uniquely identifies an entity in a table.
• Attribute: Refers to the characteristics of an entity.
• Entity: Anything with distinct and independent existence.
