Executive Summary

With the current and ever, increasing demands of electrical energy, SIES has the opportunity to contribute in the distribution of electrical energy.

SIES recruits and trains if need be, young engineers to become experts for the execution of projects.

This report talks about my involvement in distribution of energy, the steps for execution of an assigned work, problems I encountered, solutions to problems and skills acquired.

At the beginning of my internship, there was no significant contribution from my end to the company. However, after a month or two, the manpower of the company per week was increased through my involvement in some project.

General Introduction

As briefly mentioned above, this document is a report inspired by the necessity of giving an account of the industrial experience. This report is in accordance to the prescribed guidelines from my academy supervisor.

There is a lot to talk about the industrial internship which started on the 15th of August 2022 to the 15th of January 2023. This report tries to paint a picture of my industrial experiences.  This includes, my acquired knowledge of the Company I worked with or worked for within a period of about 6 months, the department I was working in, the activities I carried out, and lastly, the skills and knowledge gained.

This piece of work has primarily, three chapters and these chapters are as follows:

–           Chapter I spells out the background of the hosting company

–           Chapter II presence my industrial experiences.

–           Chapter III talks about the benefits of the internship.

For the need to help describe some evens or objects, images or figures are used companied by commentaries. As expected, this report comes to an end with conclusions and recommendations.

CAPTER ONE

INTRODUCTION

SIES, is a group of companies

The Engineering Company for Equipment and Services wants to be a leader in the field of digital engineering. Digital engineering includes civil engineering for the construction of infrastructures to accommodate computer equipment, electrical engineering for the availability of energy, information and communication techniques (ICT) and security systems guaranteeing the physical integrity and the availability of equipment and services.

This company was created to provide solutions to principals for the design, study, implementation and control of their various turnkey projects. We bring you our help during the purchase, the manufacturing control of the equipment, the construction and the commissioning of a technical or industrial installation.

Its’ services are rendered in Germany and in the CEMAC zone. The company was found and is managed by an engineer trained in Germany and having acquired professional experience here in Cameroon.

The founder is a member of the Order of Electrical Engineers of Cameroon and a member of the Order of Electrical Engineers of Germany.

1.1: Vision

With the recent development in information and communication technologies, the company want to integrate different fields of engineering to provide innovative solutions that will allow them to carry out projects efficiently while respecting costs and execution times. Thanks to their presence in Europe, which is an important center of research and innovation, they guarantee their customers the most innovative offers with the best value for money thanks to the contribution of their various partners.

1.2: Mission

The quality of the works they carry out, the health of their employees are of the greatest importance! In a world increasingly threatened by climate change, they are committed to implementing techniques that respect the environment. This has helped them to integrate a quality, health, safety and environment approach into their working methodology.  Creating jobs is also of paramount importance to them in an environment marked by underemployment. While acknowledging the importance of a multi-sectoral commitment, but particularly that of the State, they are committed to doing their part to fight against this scourge

1.3:  Values

By integrating the advantages of different and interdependent engineering fields, they offer their customers innovative solutions at unbeatable value for money. Based on the know-how and experience of their partners and through their presence in Europe, they have access to the best technologies for carrying out the missions entrusted to them. In doing so, their approach guarantees execution on time and on budget.

1.4: Field of Specialization

They support studies necessary for the introduction of new technologies, products and services. Figure 1 symbolizes the company’s support in research necessary for the introduction of new technologies and services. Lastly, they finance credible and promising research project for development of new technologies and services.

Communication Department

They realize fiber optic networks, structured cabling, VSAT solution, site interconnection. Figure 3 the company’s involvement in the optical and communication network. So far, not much has been done in this department.

Access control and time management

For access control, they offer measures for minimizing security risk, monitor and manage in a way time, the movement of people inside or outside their place of business.

Buildings and public works

The field of construction and public work is of great importance to a country under development. The figure above symbolizes the company’s involvement in civil engineering work.

Power system

Today, electrical energy is like a lubricant for a smooth and easy running of businesses. SIES renders electrification and maintenance services to industrial, commercial and domestic customers.

1.5: International Relations

For international relations so far, SIES is void of any international partner. However, in power system engineering, they are in partnership with Cameroon’s energy company Eneo.
