Abstract

Many communities especially those of the developing countries are faced with political crisis. Similarly, the same situation applies to the Kumba2 subdivision in the South west region of Cameroon. The aim of the study was to examine the impact of the Anglophone crisis on the socio-economic livelihoods of the population in the Kumba2 subdivision.

It was an observational and exploratory study that adopted the mixed research design. After a preliminary field reconnaissance survey was accomplished, questionnaire were developed and administered to 100 household dwellers who were selected through the simple random sampling techniques. Added to this primary data source were, interview guides, interrogations and field observations.

As concerned the secondary data sources, magazines, online libraries and published articles were consulted. The statistical techniques for the qualitative data collected were done through the descriptive methods while that for the quantitative data was through the use of inferential techniques. The result of the chi square was statistically significant at 0.5% with a test value of 0.00.

The obtained results show that the population of Kumba2 is actually affected by the Anglophone crisis with manifestation on access to education, medical care, and income couple with elaborated food insecurity challenges. The populations have been receiving assistance from some NGOs operating in the area but they assistance is in no way satisfactory for them.

The work concludes that the Kumba2 subdivision harbors a greater proportion of the population in the kumba Community and therefore recommends that the bottom-top approach and holistic strategies be implemented in order to maintain peace and improve economic activities in the area.
