THE EFFECT OF EMPLOYEE’S COMMITMENT ON THE PERFORMANCE OF SMALL AND MEDIUM SIZE ENTERPRISES IN FAKO DIVISION
Abstract
This study aims at examining the effect of employees’ commitment on the performance of small and medium size enterprises in Fako Division. Followed by three specific objectives which includes; A descriptive research methodology was used in this study. Questionnaires were used in the data collection.
A five-point Likert-typed scaled questionnaire was constructed and administered among the selected small and medium size enterprises in Fako Division, regression analysis technique was used to analyse the data collected. The sample size of this study was made up of 388 small and medium size enterprises in Fako Division.
The findings of the study revealed that most employees of SME’s in Fako Division are committed to their enterprises which affect the performance of these enterprises positively in the short run. From the findings, affective, continuance and normative commitment affect organizational performance positively.
The study finally recommends that various incentives should be put in place by management to ensure employees’ commitment since employees’ commitment affects the performance of SMEs in Fako Division in the short run.
