A TWO MONTHS INTERNSHIP CARRIED OUT AT NEGOCE AND SERVICES INTERNATIONAL, AKWA-DOUALA
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Internship is a period whereby student or a new graduate gets practical experience in a job. This internship is intended at exposing the student to the corporate world and professional ethics surrounding the job. To meet potential employers and to meet the requirement for the award of Bachelor of Technology (B-Tech). the intern carried out this internship at Negoce and Services International. This internship was carried out from the 30th July to the 30th of September 2021. During this period the intern was able to carry out activities in different department like maritime grouping, land transport, transit, handling, air freight.
The student focus area was on total quality management. The intern learns much, the objective of blending theories with practice and developing hands on skills were achieved, the student evaluated the institution and made some recommendations for the betterment of the company.
CHAPTER ONE
INTRODUCTION
1.1 Background to the internship
Internship is a period of experience offered by an employer to give students and graduate exposure to the working environment, often within a special industry, which is related to their field of study. Internship can be short as weeks or long as twelve months. The case in point ranges from one to three months. Internship can be done in a range of sectors, including management accounting, sales, marketing, engineering, graphics d esign, IT, and many more.
Throughout an internship, a variety of skills are developed including communication skills, personal effectiveness, presentation skills, creative problem solving and influencing skills, on-the-job training experience is as valuable as anything learned in school. After all, a student cannot actually understand what a job is all about until he/she has worked in that environment. Internship is a great opportunity for an intern to speak directly to people who have experience in the role the intern aspires to contribute in nation building and their knowledge on jobs and working environment will give the intern greater understanding of what is all about and what is needed for progress.
There are many other reasons why internship is important.
Internship broadens the students mind academically. The student gain more knowledge added to what they study in class, since he/she meets and interact with the professionals working in the organization.
Internship helps the students to understand what he/she learned in the classroom as far as theory is concerned. The students learn to put in practice what is learned in class.
Internship is there to help the students acquire the necessary experience in the work environment. It boasts up the curriculum vitae there by giving him/her an added advantage during a job interview.
Internship is also important because it is a requirement to meet up a course in school.
The internship was carried out at Negoce and services international, Akwa-Douala. The one month stay at Negoce gave the intern the opportunity to learn a variety of skills and gain new knowledge in procurement and inventory management.
1.2 Aims and objectives of the internship

The main aim of the internship was to blend theory and practicals as applied in the field of study and also to fulfill partial requirement for the award of a Bachelor in Business administration (B.Tech)

To know how to gain and retain customers
To know how procurement is done in an organization
To be able to take inventory
To be to communicate properly at the job site
To develop skills in the application of theories to practical work situations
To increase the student sense of creativity and responsibility
To develop employment records/references that will enhance employment opportunities
To get an indebt knowledge of the formal functional activities of a particular organization.
1.3 Operational Definition of Terms and list of Abbreviation
1.3.1 Operational Definition of Terms
Transport: This refers to the movement of goods, services and/or people from one place to another.
Logistics: It is the movement of products and services to a designated location at an agreed upon time, cost and condition.
Port: It is a labor or area that is designed to provide shelter to numerous goods and vessels and can also allow constant and periodic transactions of shipment.
Custom declaration: This is an act by which the declarant is engaged under pains of law to assign a custom regime to the goods declared. Note, only a declarant types a custom declaration and takes it to the custom.
Temporal exportation: It is the transportation of goods out of the country maybe because of repairs or transportation and imported back.
Transporter: The clear goods from the port and take them to the magazine or market
Tax payers card: It is a card that authorizes the transporter to receive goods from its client.
2.1 Historical background of Negoce and services international
Negoce and services international was created in the year 2002 by a group of partners in Akwa-Douala with the aim of helping people and organisations get to where they want to be. Its main activities are land transport, maritime grouping, transit, handling, air freight etc.
Land Transport
Negoce and services international does off-loading of cargo and ensure that on land, they are being transported to their points of delivery.
Maritime grouping
Professionals from inland shipping, ship building, ship equipment’s, electric, construction, trading, and chattering ship companies that deals with Negoce and services international make up the maritime group for this service industry.
Transit
Negoce and services international monitor’s goods on transit to ensure they arrive their points of destination in good condition and on time.
Handling
This involves the activity of moving goods on and off the ship, truck or planes.
Freight
General term of goods transported from one place to another by any means.
