RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN PHARMACIST STAFF AND THE NURSES AT THE LIMBE BOTA DISTRICT HOSPITAL
Abstract
This report work was based on one-month internship placement at Limbe District hospital the main aim of this internship placement was to partially fulfil of the requirements for the award of a specialized technician diploma, and administration.
The case study for this report was Different Relationship Between Pharmacist Staff and The Nurses at the Limbe District Hospital (Bota). Furthermore, other task carried out by the intern includes the following, prepare simple dosage forms (tablet, injection, lotion, oil-men, syrups), Counseling and Teaching Patients on Drug Usage, Interpretation of Drugs Prescription Orders, Basic Requirement of a Prescription, Administration, the following were the problem identified during the placement, One common issue that can arise between pharmacy staff and nurse staff is a lack of mutual respect and trust, which can lead to misunderstandings, errors, and unnecessary conflicts, the report proposed solutions, encourage open communication and collaboration, ensure clarity and accuracy in medication orders, strengthen training and education programs, Use technology and automation effectively.
The report concludes that the relationships between pharmacist staff and nurses at Limbe District Hospital were generally positive, with effective communication and collaboration being key components. The findings of this case study highlight the importance of fostering strong interprofessional relationships to enhance patient care outcomes, the report recommends that there should be continuously improve the electronic medical record system to enhance communication between pharmacist staff and nurses, ensuring efficient medication management and reducing the risk of errors.

Institution to gain the skills of pharmacy attendant for just one year intensive program in the institution the gender of this institution have help so many people to self-employ themselves and to be employed by others both national and international, thus has boast the strategy of our country << health for all>> and has increase the economic development, for a country with health citizens would achieve its goals.
For the quality of a pharmacy attendance to be complete, the institution make it possible for their theoretical section, the student go out for one month two-week intensive internship program where they gain quality practical knowledge from what they have learn in school, which I understood in the Bota district Limbe from May 9 to 16 June 2023.
Limbe District Hospital is a reputable healthcare facility located in the city of Limbe, renowned for its commitment to providing quality healthcare services to the local community. This case study internship report aims to explore and analyze the relationships between pharmacist staff and nurses within the hospital setting. The report will examine the dynamics, collaboration, and communication between these two essential healthcare professionals.
1.2 Objectives of Internship
General objective: By the end of this internship the student should demonstrate knowledge of stock management and administration, simple pharmaceutical preparations and clinical pharmacy.
Specific Objectives
1 Stock Management and Administration
Describe the book used in stock management
Assist with acquiring drugs with specific period of time
Properly arrange/store drugs in shelves
Assist in carrying out inventories
- Simple Pharmaceutical Preparation
Prepare simple dosage forms (tablets, injections, lotions, ointments, syrubs etc)
Ensure and control quality of pharmaceutical products
- Clinical Pharmacy
Canceling/Teaching patients on drugs usage
Participate in drug packaging
Interpret drugs prescription order
Monitor patient’s reactions to drugs (drug effects) with other health care staffs.

1.3 Description of Placement Site
Limbe district hospital. The health facility is located in one of the 8 health areas. The Limbe health district known as Bota health area is situated at middle farms junction in Bota and it share boundaries to its north, with the government primary school Bota known as GS Bota. To its south we have the medicine shop, to its east we have the Limbe camps and to its West, we have the CDC Labour Club.
1.4 Background History of LDH
Limbe District Hospital commonly can Bota hospital was built by the Germans during the colonial era and it was later managed by the Cameroon development cooperative (CDC) as a mother and child clinic. In 1987 the HF was handed over the government of Cameroon an it became integrated district hospital. In 1996 the status of the health facility was changed a full district hospital and it name was change to Limbe District Hospital (LDH).
This health facility is located in one of the 8 health areas of Limbe Health District known as Bota Health area. The HF is situated at middle farm junction in Bota and it shares boundaries to it north, with the government primary school Bota known as G.S Bota. To its south we have medicine shop, to its east, we have the Limbe camps and to its west, we have the CDC labour club.
Limbe District hospital (LDH) is one out 39 health facility (HF) found in the Limbe Health District. It equally stands amongst the 14 public HF in this area. The hospital was contracted under the PBF project in April 2012 and till date it is still under the project. However, when it comes to classification of health facility under the PBF project, it falls under health facilities with a complementary package of activities (CPA). In Limbe Health District there are only 2 CPA out of the 39 HF in the area which are: Limbe Regional Hospital and Limbe district Hospital while the others fall under the minimum package of activity (MPA).
Limbe District hospital serves as the referral hospital for Health center and clinic with the Limbe Health District and it cover population of 34,325persons. It has a staffing population of 105persons spread across 22 different unit with 70% of the staff being predominantly women. The health personnel of different grades ranging from part time specialist, General Practitioners, nurses, mid-wives, pharmacy, dentist, cleaners, yardmen, security men, administrative staff and senior Public Health Administrators
