Abstract

This study investigated the Effects of Human Relations on Student’s Academic Performance in Secondary Schools in the in Buea Municipality, with respect to the parent-school relations, administrators-students relations, administrators-teachers relations, students-school relations and community-school relations.

Five research questions where formulated and transformed into five working hypothesis. The following instruments were used for data collection: two sets of questionnaire for teachers and students and GCE results from the Cameroon GCE board.

A total of 483 questionnaires were validated for analysis with the public agency having 370, denominational 146 and lay private 58 to both students and teachers. A total of 8 schools were visited constituting public, denominational and lay private. Data were collected and analyzed using spearman correlation and chi square test.

The findings revealed that Human Relations has an effect on students’ academic performance in secondary schools. Based on the findings the following recommendations were made; Parents should constantly visit the school to verify things concerning their children so as to better follow them. School administration should involve state-holders in decision-making in order to facilitate the implementation process. The government should include Human Relations in the curriculum of secondary schools.
