Effect Of School Environment On Pupils’ Academic Performance
Abstract
“The Influence of School Environment on Pupils’ Academic Performance in Fako Division South West Region of Cameroon” was the topic of the research. The study specifically looks at how learning environments, student-student relationships, teacher-student relationships, and parent-school relationships impact students’ academic achievement.
Twelve instructors were questioned as well as 200 students from four elementary schools to gather their thoughts on the research being looked into in the Fako Division. A cross-sectional survey research methodology was employed, and a practical and purposeful sampling strategy was used to create the study’s sample. For the purpose of gathering data, primary six students were given a questionnaire, and their instructors were given an interview guide.
The results showed that students’ academic performance is significantly impacted by the school environment. Looking at the correlation between the learning environment and academic performance, the results showed that parent-school relationships (r=0.26) had the least impact on student’s academic performance, followed by learning facilities (r=0.592), teacher-pupil relationships (r=0.606), and pupil relationships (r=0.299).
