Abstract
This document carries all my activities throughout my two months’ internship at mount Cameroon FM 98.6. My internship started in January and ended in February 28. I worked daily from Tuesday to Thursday, from 8;30 to 2pm.
My main aim of the internship was to improve on my writing, reporting and presenting skills. I very well sure I accomplished my goal in the two months that I was there.
CHAPTER ONE
1.1 INTRODUCTION
This document carries my two months stay at mount Cameroon fm. My objective for going there, the reason I choose the place, my experience throughout my stay there and what I have learnt so far.
Radio mount Cameroon FM is a state owned radio station located in south west region of Cameroon, Buea precisely. It has as station manager Marry Lum Azonga Qwenti. It is a very nice environment, as the people there are very friendly and welcoming.
They were there to teach us everything we needed to know and corrected every mistakes we made.
1.2 Choice of Radio station
My reason for choosing mount Cameroon FM was because I needed to train my voice more on reporting and presenting. I did two internships at my undergraduate level, one at The Rambler Newspaper (print) and one at mediafrique radio FM 89.6.
Both the above mentioned media houses are private owned. So one of the reasons I choose CRTV mount Cameroon FM is because it’s a public media house. I wanted to see how a public media house operates and the differences it has from a private media. Another reason was because I just needed a change and get to meet new people in the field, make new friends, create new contact.
I also went to mount Cameroon because it has professionals in the field in the likes of Kolle George Nkume, Mbua Evelle, walter Wilson. I knew with people like this as my supervisors, I would gain a lot form them and indeed I did learn a lot from them.
1.3 Objective of the Internship
My main objective of this internship was to improve on my journalism skills. I went there to improve on my reporting, editing presenting and writing skills of which I did. I had the opportunity to take part in radio programs like ‘check point’, ‘launch flavor’, and the 12pm news cast.
On a daily basis I participated in checkpoint or launch flavor. Another objective of my internship is to validate the course media production since it is a compulsory course and I can’t validate the course without doing this internship
